What you need to know about bottle sealing waxes
You can use any type of heat safe container that has a temperature setting like a deep fryer or crock pot. But if you don’t have access to either of these containers you can use a pot on a stove. The pot on the stove method is a little bit more difficult to do because it is hard to keep a constant temperature.
The recommended dipping temperature is 85C. Make sure to measure this temperature with a thermometer before dipping the bottle in the wax.
Hold the bottle upside down and dip the neck of the bottle into the wax. Once the bottle is dipped, you can remove the bottle and let the excess wax drip off before turning the bottle right side up.
You can dip about 125 bottles per kg of wax. But depending on the size of your bottle you are covering you might need more or less wax.
When stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excess heat, our sealing wax has no fixed expiry. For best results, we recommend using it within approximately 2–3 years of purchase.
Allow the wax to cool and harden completely, then gently lift or scrape it away. On non-porous surfaces, any remaining film can usually be removed with a soft cloth and a little mild detergent. Avoid harsh abrasives or aggressive solvents that could damage the surface.
Yes. While our wax is formulated for bottle sealing, it also works well for a variety of creative projects such as jars, gift packaging, wax seals on cards, and other decorative applications.
Our sealing wax forms a durable, protective coating over the neck and closure of the bottle and stands up well to normal handling, condensation and refrigeration. However, it is not designed for prolonged water submersion or as a full waterproofing system.
Our pigments are designed to stay vibrant with normal handling and proper storage. If colour fading occurs, it is usually a sign that the wax has been overheated during melting rather than age-related fading.
Yes. You can combine different colours in your melting pot to create custom blends. For larger runs or precise brand colours, we also offer custom colour-matching and production.
Yes. Our bottle sealing wax is specifically formulated for sealing wine, spirits and other bottled beverages at the neck and closure. It is intended for external use on the closure and is not a direct food-contact coating.
